Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about residential care homes, membership, consulting and the Caregiver Registry.

What is Care Home Association?

Care Home Association is a North Texas organization that supports residential care homes, caregivers and senior service professionals through education, networking, advocacy and practical resources. We also help families find senior care information and connect with our independent placement partner, Quality Care Referral Network LLC.

Does Care Home Association place residents in care homes?

No. Placement and referral services are provided by Quality Care Referral Network LLC, an independent referral partner of Care Home Association. The association can point families to the partner, who helps them explore residential care homes based on care needs, preferences, location and budget.

What is a residential care home?

A residential care home is a small assisted living setting, usually in a house in a regular neighborhood, where a limited number of older adults live together and receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, meals and medication reminders. Many families like the home-like setting and the personal attention a smaller home can offer. Services vary from home to home.

What is the difference between a Type A and Type B assisted living facility in Texas?

In Texas, Type A assisted living facilities serve residents who do not need routine staff attendance during sleeping hours and can follow directions in an emergency. Type B facilities serve residents who may need staff help to evacuate, may not be able to follow emergency directions, and may need attendance at night. Always confirm current rules with Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC).

Who can join Care Home Association?

Our membership community is intended for residential care homes, assisted living providers, caregivers, home health and hospice agencies, rehabilitation providers, pharmacies, medical equipment companies, elder law professionals and other senior service providers. Membership categories, eligibility and benefits are subject to association review.

How much does membership cost?

Please contact Care Home Association for current membership rates, eligibility requirements and included benefits. Call 972-693-1646 or email elderlycare30@yahoo.com.

Does membership include free consulting?

No. Membership does not include free or unlimited consulting, or automatic access to all paid documents. Startup consulting, specialized consulting, policies, forms, manuals and other paid resources are available separately, and Care Home Association members receive reduced pricing on them.

Can you help me open a residential care home in Texas?

Yes. Care Home Association offers paid startup consulting for people planning to open a residential care home, including startup planning, operational guidance, policy development, preparation and staff resources. Consulting is priced separately from membership, with reduced rates for members. Our resources support your preparation but are not a guarantee of licensing approval or compliance.

Does joining the Caregiver Registry guarantee a job?

No. Registration does not guarantee employment or certify a caregiver’s qualifications. Participating care homes make their own hiring decisions and are responsible for interviews, credential and reference checks, and any required employment screening.

What areas do you serve?
